Elvis Presley died of a heart attack on August 16,1977, at the age of 42.. Some people believe this his death was caused by his abuse of prescription drugs. However, his medical history indicates that he had lived with an underlying heart condition. The medical examiner of Memphis, the city where he died, listed the cause of death as “hypertensive cardiovascular disease associated with atherosclerotic heart disease.” Medical records indicate that his heart was two times its normal size and that he had live with severe coronary artery disease.
