The medical examiner of Memphis, the city where he died, listed the cause of death as “hypertensive cardiovascular disease associated with atherosclerotic heart disease.” Medical records indicate that his heart was two times its normal size and that he had live with severe coronary artery disease. His medical history included diabetes, obesity and extremely high blood pressure—all risk factors of heart attacks.
